About MDC

Melanie DukasMelanie Dukas, Principal

Melanie has more than 20 years of experience in sales and marketing. She began her career in advertising, learning the nuts and bolts of the creative process at agencies in Peabody and Manhattan.

Returning to New England, Melanie worked at R&D Magazine where she learned how to explain complex technologies in simple terms that prospective customers could understand. Recognizing that many companies needed someone with her unique mix of advertising, marketing and technical expertise, she launched Marketing Options in 1995 as a virtual advertising agency.

As principal of Marketing Options, Melanie developed marketing and public relations programs for technology companies in semiconductors, electronics, life science and other high tech industries through her network of talented creative professionals.

In 2000, Melanie became marketing communications manager for kSARIA, a fiber optic automation start-up in Wilmington, Mass. Creating a marketing program from scratch, she initiated, directed and executed all marketing initiatives in-house, including advertising, direct mail, public relations, analyst relations, trade shows, the website, product literature and videos, with the assistance of a freelance network. In less than a year, she successfully positioned kSARIA as the technological leader in fiber optics automation and generated extensive publicity in trade publications as well as the Boston Globe, the Red Herring, Boston Business Journal and Mass High Tech.

After kSARIA struggled in the economic downturn, Melanie resumed exercising her marketing talents independently for client companies in 2001. In this new economic environment, most of the companies Melanie worked with valued her ability to handle all aspects of the creative process herself to create high-quality, cost-effective marketing tools.

To respond to the needs of these small companies, she founded Melanie Dukas Communications. Her focus has expanded from technology firms to all types of small companies with an emphasis on website design and development. Nevertheless, her goal remains the same: to use her creative and writing skills to provide high quality, professional marketing materials to help her clients grow.
